    Hi

    Xj750 41y

    My side covers are cracked. Ik found new ones but these dont have the inner structure that the old have.

    Van I use the new ones? As far as I can see the ignition is a stand alone unit without the need of the covers.

    Left = old
    Right = new

    right side takes the same gasket as an XJ550,650,750. so the scrrw holes will be correct . my only concern is if the left side is not as tall and hits the pickups

    I think yamaha just went plastic to lighten up bike cut costs.

    you may want to try one from an 80,81 xj with non yics motor covers are plain and have more airspace inside

    It's not about the dept,

    it's about the metal plates that are inserted in the cover.

    tnx

    i will add that if you had to check timing you would have to remove that cover and run the bike. if the 2 plates had anything to do with the pickupcoils they would be mounted to motor and not a cover.

    Thats great news, I will stick with the ''new" ones. They fit perfect.
