small oil leak

    Looks like i have a small oil leak coming from the bottom center of engine. This was last fall i noticed it. It looks like its coming from what a friend thought could be the oil sending unit? If so, is this just a simple pull and replace a gasket?

    I had a small leak that occurred last fall, turns out my seal that comes out when you change the oil filter was split. New seal stopped it.

    Even if it doesn't split that o-ring seal flattens with age and will leak. Much more likely to be this than the sender.

    On mine it was the crush washer on the drain bolt.

    Either one spreads all over the pan and can look like the oil level sending unit.

    I will check it out real good when it warms up and i can pull it out of the shed to the garage. If it is the sender, is this a big deal to do? I cant seem to find any info on it. I even have the XJ CD's and cannot find it.
