My last couple of helmets have been HJC, The HJC AC11 I smashed the right side of one in two weeks after I got it after a highside when the engine seized during a race

Next was an HJC FG15 did near enough the same thing as the first

My next will be a HJC RPHA-10, I've used a friends one and simply the lightest, quietest best vented helmet I've ever worn, but top of their price range

I have an early version of the SHOEI MultiTech.

If you perform "Vent-opening surgery" on the Fabric Liner and Foam Rubber and Foam, ... you can actually benefit from circulation of fresh air inside the Helmet.

Use a Highly Visible Marker to mark the Liner where there needs to be an opening to benefit from flow from the External Vent Slot.

Lock a Darning Needle in a pair of small Vice Grips.
Hold the Needle in the flame of a torch until Red Hot.

Carefully, excise a slit through the Liner, Foam and Styrofoam Shell.
The Needle will make a nice clean "Cut" while superheated.
It also melts the Liner so it won't unravel.

Do the Forehead, Chin and Exit that way.

I picked up the Revolver from UPS last night! I think that it is going to work out nicely.

The overall size of the helmet was larger than I expected. This does make sense though considering the hinging mechanisms used for the modular feature. The glossy black finish looks nice and seems like it will prove durable. The visor functions properly and the easy release feature is very nice. The internal sun shade operates smoothly with the toggle switch and covers 90% of field of vision. The modular feature feels nice and secure and is simple to operate with one hand. The removable inner lining is a great feature and appears to be of a good quality.

With the helmet on, field of vision is hardly restricted. It is barley visible on the sides and hardly noticeable on top and bottom. Overall, I think it allows for a great field of view.

In all the pictures/reviews I found, with the modular chin down it was reported as "open". Thus causing some wind and noise. The Revolver I have actually has a bit of a molded. pliable, curtain that I did not see in those reviews! It actually curls under the chin a bit too.

It does fit well. Although, it seems a bit tight on the temples. I imagine it will "break in" a little the more I wear it. That may also just be me nit picking as I wear it sitting on the sofa and perhaps may not even be noticeable while riding.

Overall, having not ridden with it, I am very pleased!

Is it hard to eat while wearing it on the Sofa? I'm laughing because I'm picturing you wearing it all over the house and just hanging out in it!

Unfortunately not every manufacturer uses the same exact measurements for their sizes. They usually have a size chart and you can see what the dimensions of the head going in the bucket should be. You measure around your head just above your eyebrows and level around the largest part of your skull. Even doing this sometimes they don't fit just right.

Make sure your liner is all the way in and maybe try 'shoe horning' it with a solid object to make some room. I'm betting you won't notice it so much while your riding.

Merc, your imagination was correct. I wore it last night for about 30 minutes and today for about the same, walking around the house and making that last post. HA!

I did use the size chart provided. My head measured 23.25" mostly, putting me in the bottom of the large range. Like I said, it fits snug like a helmet should. I only wish to relieve some pressure from the temples.

The pads are removable. I'm thinking it would be easiest to put a few stitches threw the pads to sort of anchor/restrict the cushy-ness. I'll only do that over the temples so it won't loosen the fit any.

I just purchased the Bell Revolver also. Should be in next week. I'll give an update once I, too, can wear it around the house for a while. ;)

Edit: I bought mine from Motorcycle Superstore for half off.

Maybe we could have done a group buy! Except me because I'm off their size chart.

I saw a thread once about members getting together for a group rate or something, I think it was Rick's idea.
how would we proceed in something like that?
It would be a great idea really

I don't know. I think you'd have to find the amount of interest and then contact either a retailer or direct to the manufacturer.

The new Revolver has now been suited with speakers. I figured, since I love my tunes and the helmet has speaker pockets, it was a necessity.

I tore down a pair of headphones and modded them to my needs. After some trimming and Krazy glue, I used some sticky back Velcro to hold them in place. Good to go...!

Yes Merc, I than sat through a few tunes!

Well of course! That's your own personal sound studio, and if a some space junk comes through your roof and tries to bean you, you'll be smiling on the 5o'clock news-if you're not too bummed out about your smoldering helmet.

I have used headphones while riding and I will offer you one word of caution. If you have them cranked up really loud you can't hear the world around you as well-so I would simply be aware of this as you ride and force more attention on your vision and staying focused to compensate for less auditory input.

I wore my Revolver around the house for a while today. The fit is nice! The only issue I can see for the future (riding weather) is that the drop-down sun shield really isn't that dark. I'll have to either buy something darker or figure something out myself. It really is a nice-looking helmet; MUCH nicer than the cheapo Hawk I bought in case I decided I didn't like riding (HAH). My Revolver is the hi-vis yellow and it's not really as hi-vis as I might like, but it's alright. So, my from-the-couch review ends with a 'so far, so good.'

Redsix I just wear sunglasses. They are thin and comfortable and I just slip them in and good to go. They also tuck nicely on either side of the ignition cover for temp storage (not while riding). It's a requirement for me I have excellent night vision but bright light is blinding.

Merc- I'll give it a go. The cheek pads are pretty tight at the moment, so we'll see. Might end up being more comfortable/convenient to swap it out.

A strip or two of electrical tape at the top of the sun shield gives you something to block the sun completely and still see the road

Those things are becoming popular around where I live, with the Toys-R-Us helmet group. As "da old guy" said, back in the 70's I wore a 3/4 bell and was able to BORROW a full face at the track. Neither of us could afford to actually BUY a FF back then. Now, I have 3 FF, my fav being a flip-up (makes putting on the glasses easer).....no interest in looking like something I'm not.....ROBORIDER or IRONMAN
    lmao.....

My first FF was an original Bell Star; it had a "viewport" like a cartoon space helmet and weighed about 18lbs.

THOSE first-gen FF helmets did restrict periperal vision, thankfully those times are long gone. I continue to be impressed by the quality that's now available for a quite reasonable price; and we have really capable "gear" choices like we never had "back in the day."

I'm a firm believer in the present day state of the art Full Face. I'm now wearing a Shoei 1100. Perhaps a bit pricey, but I've seen what happens when Mr. Head meets Mr. Macadam. It isn't pretty. For my biases, $40 helmets belong with those folks with $40 heads. Age will also accelerate the deterioration of a helmet. When the foam begins to "powder," you're overdue a visit to the skid lid store!

An update on my Bell Revolver FF helmet: I love it. It has a few drawbacks, but nothing major. The cheek pads have squished down a bit, but it's still a tight fit. The sunshield is an invaluable part of the helmet and I can't tell you how many times I've used it. It's easy to use both ways, and it does a good job when it's down. I did, though, purchase a darker version of the sunshield to replace the one it came with, since the original was nowhere near dark enough. There is a LOT of airflow around the chin guard; so much so that the front and top vents are pretty useless. I've never had mine open. The helmet is a little high on road noise, I think. I don't have a bunch of helmets to base that off of, but it's louder than my Hawk helmet. I have the hi-vis yellow helmet, and been told many times that I really can be seen from a long way away. My only true gripe about the helmet is the magnet Bell has subbed for the strap snap. I'd been using the helmet steadily for a month or so and the magnet popped out of it's fabric casing. Thankfully, it stuck to it's other half, or I'd be out of luck. I had to tape it back on. Ugly, but functional.
So, I give it a 4.5 out of 5, and would recommend it.
