Hi need some advice, my XJ650 (special) having some minor issues when driven in the hot days .. i feel the engine running poorly when very hot.

I check spark plug cap, and 2 of them are loose inside.. also is the "resistor" inside really look like carbon? i have a few 5 ohms resistor from a honda and notice the resistor is more modern (white color with shiny top and butom ) can i use this type of resistor cap? its almost the same as NGK replacement caps.. does ANY 5 ohms cap safe and good replacement for the stock resistor cap? the stock CARBON like resistor does not respond to my Ohms meter :( im afraid using the stock caps might damage my computer box..

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
stock plug cap resistance is not 5 ohm. It's 5k ohm.
I think it will be OK to use non-resistor plug caps because XJ's TCI is not computer inside. But if there is any concern, you should use 5k ohm plug caps.

The resistor cap does two things (three really, but not many XJ's have AM radios installed). It prevents RFI from interfering with the TCI (even though there is no computer it can still be affected), and it is one method of altering the spark duration in a TCI ignition system.

Any 5k ohm resistor (for plug caps) or resistor cap will work.
