Hello all on this forum first time posting and I need a lot of help.
So I recently bought a Yamaha xj550r seca and it recently wouldn't start. So a little back story we have disconnected the back turn lights and the front turn lights and I have also changed the handlebars to clip on ones.
So what is happening is now it won't start. I hear a click in the cylinoid when I turn the bike on. Battery is good, it started prior to me changing the handlebars.

the click you hear is the starter cut off relay (under the fuel tank) and/or the sidestand safety relay (under the seat).

the starter button makes ground when you press it. the right control is the ground to the handle bars via the metal wire clamp in the opening of the control.
follow the wire harness from the control back to the main harness. the connectors are just under the ignition coil on the right side. you will have to lift up the fuel tank to get to the connector. You will find a black wire in the connector from the control and NO MATING WIRE in the main harness connector. this black wire can be made into the ground.
simple way is to cut the wire ,splice and solder an extension wire onto this wire and a ring terminal on the loose end. then connect the ring terminal to one of the ignition coil mounting bolts to get your ground.

2 red wires are for the run/kill switch
the blue wire is from the solenoid to starter button
Black wire comes from starter button and is ground when connected to a chassis ground.
if your clip-ons are painted or powder coated the ground will not be made

you can test this by running a jumper wire to battery ground then to the control ,clip it to the control on the throttle cable hold down screw.
    then press the starter button.

another known problem is the mating of the 2 connectors for the control and harness make sure it is tight.

simplest problem is did you turn the run/kill switch to the wrong position?
