taillight/signals

    hello.

    i have an 83 xj 750 i needed a new taillight old one wasnt working so i hooked it up and it doesnt light up until you push the lever or pedal in is this correct does it not work as a running light also? and my front signals are smashed but the rears work fine, problem is they dont blink do the fronts need to be hooked up in order for the rears to blink? the rears light up but dont blink, on one of the fronts if i push the bulb really hard it will blink the front and back on the left side. any help would be great. i have a new set of front blinkers on the way. plus they exhaust megaphone on the left side is loose from a crash how can i tighten that up the stock bolt with the rubber insert is ripped. can i just throw a few washers in there and tighten it up. thanks guys. this site has helped me alot.

    Tail light - should be running light and stop light. Check is it has 1157 bulbs in it - sounds like it has 1156s (single element). Other than that check connections and corrosion.

    Turn signals will not flash unless both front and rear on that side are working.

    You may be able to get a new rubber insert but a couple of washers probably won't hurt.
