ok, so here's the plan for the bike. I'm going in a bit of a different direction. I'm putting a ducati tail on it with the stock tank.... check it out.

ok, I was just f'n around. That tail was for another project that I was working on, but never did anything with.....YET! It's an '81 cb750f. I guess that will be the next project.

Here is what I'm really doing....

wait.... no....no...that's not it either. Maybe the tank is wrong.....

    Here we go....

Nope....just really don't like that stock tank on there. Maybe if I go with the sporty tank and the seat off of the duc?

ok, ok, ok.... enough joking around. The plan is to go with either the sporty tank or the maxim 650 I bought today. I'll make up my mind when I have both tanks to look at. In these pics the sporty tank is too low and it's just zip tied in place. I'll need to move some components and redo the triple backbone to get it to fit right. Imagine some 15" apes on there as well. I'll be getting those sooner or later....hopefully sooner.

I think the maxim tank will look alot better on there. I don't care for that sporty tank.

BTW it's REAL popular with a lot of folks, but I've never been a fan of the tank sitting up high like that. As always that's just my opinion AND not my scooter

If I would decide to keep the sporty tank I would be converting to a single backbone and moving everything out of the tanks way, so It would sit down about an inch or so lower than it is in those pics and it would be about 2 inches up closer to the handlebars. I agree with you guys though. I am most likely going to be using the Maxim tank.

I just ordered handlebars, rear fender, forward controls, and some tubing for my hardtail from TCBros.

i wont lie, and ill go against popular opinion, but i like the sporty tank, i think with a different set of gauges, it could look pretty slick,
mainly, i'm just commenting tho, so i can get notifications of updates to your build. lookin good.

hahahaha....Thanks Kenny. Yeah, that's why I am waiting on the final decision until I'm closer to being done with the bike.

Things I still need (in case you have them laying around):

    - Side mount license plate/brake light
    - Gauges
    - ammo can/s for electronics and/or luggage area

uuuuuhhhhh.....that's all I can think of right now.

That's an X tank I don't know if they're the same dimensions as the other 650/750 Maxim tanks.

thanks for the help guys.... I have a 650 tank on the way and I'll see if I dig that or if I need to keep looking.

Unless I see a license/brake light dealio go up for sale soon I won't really worry about that until I'm at that step. I have way too much else to do with this between now and then though.

Sportster tank with the springer seat, once it's it's cleaned up I think it would look good. Strip all the junk off it and look at it, it'll give you a better idea of what the finished product will be :) If you were doing a cafe the Duc tail would be sweet.

a cafe/fighter is what I got the duc tail for. That was my original plan for the cb750f. That and switching it to a mono shock.

I have a 650 AND 750 tank on the way :D I'll be keeping two out of the 4 tanks probably and selling the other two.

Off to PA in about an hour, so no work will be done for awhile.

Big Brown Santa brought me the TCBros shipment. Now I just have to get off of my butt and get those carbs cleaned up and back on the bike. After it's running I can put on some of my new bits. :D

carbs are back on after being a dumbass and installing the foats upside down... hahahahaa Bike is idling NICELY at 1k. I'll be moving on to forward controls, ape hangers, and the maxim 750 tank that I got in the mail today. Actually I now have a 650 AND 750 tank sitting in the garage, so I'll be deciding if I want to go with the skinnier sleeker 650 or the kick ass fat 750 tank. I'm leaning towards the fatty, but not positive yet. The 750 is in better shape too, so ......

Stay tuned for pics. Hopefully I'll have them up tomorrow.
