I was reading my Haynes manual during lunch today and came across the tire pressure specs. This sent me into research mode as I thought 28 psi couldn't possibly be right. It seems way too low. After searching through every thread related to tire pressure, I found most were only slightly higher than the manual. I have been about 10 psi over all this time. Therefore, for any other new riders, keep in mind that the max psi on the tire is not the recommended psi for the bike.

Yep. Max PSI for the tire should only be used when the vehicle is carying max load.

I picked up one at Advanced Auto based on their recommendation. The biggest issue I had was finding a good one that was usable on the rear tire. The first one wouldn't fir into the space, second one uses 's reinforced flexible hose. It is at least similar to the Xtra Seal they carry. However, I can't tell you how accurate it is as I don't have a way to test it.

And if anyone can fix the title of the thread, I would appreciate it. Typed on my smart phone. It was supposed to be tire, not three.

Turns out the brand is Victor.

I don't trust any service station pump. They are abused by many drivers.

I reduced the pressure to 35 psi, front and back. The tires are Avon Venom. I will see if I can tell if it is any better or worse tomorrow.

Also keep in mind a cold tire pressure will be lower..a hot tire pressure higher..if it is set at 28 psi cold...can go up to 30 psi or so hot. A digital gauge I have is some what accurate.

Most all digital gauges have the same innards regardless of brand.
Accuracy isn't as important as consistency. Even a cheap dial gauge will typicaly be within 1 or 2 psi of an expensive calibrated gauge.

My go-to for a long time has been the Milton pencil gauge (lbought it long enough ago that it has a nickel-plated brass gauge instead of nylon).
