I bought my 750 Seca thinking it would be just like my old 900.
    Wrong !
This thing seriously MOVES me ! I put 300 miles on the first week.
I'm trying to baby it until I get the synthetic oil in, but I still love crackin' 100 MPH- - it's so easy ! I haven't even tuned the "lope" out of the idle yet, and the first full tank I got 50 MPG ! Sure it still has a bunch of fuse box related gremlins (Chacal--PM sent) and working turn signals would be nice, but it came with new tires, and pretty good overall condition, for just $900 off E-Bay. (25,000 miles), performance exhaust and airbox cover with holes drilled in it.

After 1,000 miles I am very happy with this bike. It averages 49 MPG with pretty hard riding. Plugs are very clean--white, with a bit of tan. Then I put in the good Amsoil synthetic motorcycle oil, along with a filter and filter spring from Chacal, and I got the starter grinding syndrome right away! Nasty noise with almost no starter engagement. I'm doing the duck paddle, and bump--embarassing! With only 30 miles, this Amsoil is coming out of my motor.

Somebody actually pulled it off !! (or put it on. . . )

    http://prototype900turbo.com/index.php/ ... to_gallery

The Turbo fairing mounts are welded to the frame, and the frame dimensions are slightly different, so this was no easy task making it look "factory".

And gee, I got a turbo parts bike and a welder. . . maybe some day.

900 Club? i didnt know there was such a thing...

now i cant wait to get mine on the road! mine wasnt quite the deal that TIME got ($500 with 33k and a bunch of little issues like fork seals, carbs in a box, needing tires, needing turn signals and mirrors and some rash on the left muffler) but its at MiCarls getting a going thru...

i need to pull the fairing and paint it something other than red oxide primer. although there ARE stripes on it. someone put some time and effort into duplicating the decals and painting them...

100mph+? great. ill have to tape a block of wood in the accelerator someplace. after going off road last summer on my 750R im not in any rush to go rushing...

heres a pic of mine at time of purchase...

TWO YEAR (and a month) UPDATE :

I bought an E-Bay seat as the original had a small rip.
The speedo reads 9% fast, partly due to a small (wrong) front tire.
I blew out a rear shock, so I installed the TURBO 650's air shocks.
They seem to give a softer ride, but on a hard bump they will bottom out.
I added a "cramp buster" but all my other bikes have a throttle lock.
This allows you to ride without gripping so hard with your right hand.

Without removing the carbs, I checked the sliders (clunk test) and the insides looked really clean. I was boosting the battery for cold starts all winter just to cut down on cranking. Starts up great now.

And now I'm removing the yellowed clear coat. I'm going for a finer satin finish rather than a full-on mirror polish. And I'm pulling the exhaust for fresh black paint.

I had turbo air shocks on my 650 that I did an epic trek on (http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=19208.html). I tuned them very carefully. Do yours have the compression adjustment ring at the top? Mine did, and I got a mountain bike rear shock pump, and incrementally added air in the shocks until I would only sag them about 3/4" when I sat on the bike (including passenger+gear). It was a lot less air than I thought it was going to be btw. Then do some test rides that have some small bumps and some frost heaves or something and play with that adjustment ring at the top of the shocks until they feel perfect. I was able to dial mine in until they felt like expensive current-generation rear suspension.

    Hope that helps at all.

    Three year update :
WOW - unbelievably low maintenance bike !! (in a good way)
33,000 miles , tires are "done" , carbs have NEVER been off, so I still can't tell you the jetting. Headers painted with VHT 1500* paint after sandblasting, and look great. Oil custom blend - one quart Mobil-1 20-50, the balance - Rotella-T 15W40 (the starter clutch can't handle straight synthetic) Starter button was sticking "on", so I sprayed Kroil in there, foam grips are rotting, 4" fairing crack repaired with BLACK PVC cement from ACE Hardware - - amazing stuff !!

I put one OZ of Acetone into a full tank of gas occasionally, and run it thru.
This is to dissolve the odd compounds formed by the 10% ETHANOL that we are running - to clean the carb passages. I don't store the bike with Acetone. It's a 500:1 ratio, give or take.

if you mix pvc "sawdust" with that pvc glue you can make it thicker so it won't run , add more and you get a paste that you can build up, should you need to

I saw that trick, but they used a Surform Shaper (like a cheesegrater) to make shreds instead of "sawdust". I've also repaired parts of the 750 and GoldWing with the glue.

    Great looking bike Dave.

FOUR YEAR update, 36,000 miles and STILL this bike has not let me down or left me walking.
New rear tire replacing the Cheng-Shin, new speedo cable, grips, and new tapered steering bearings that replaced somehow DIMPLED tapered roller bearings, which should have never failed (made in Japan even!)

Florida has "Love Bugs" - don't spray WINDEX on whatever kind of plastic these windscreens are made out of. I had streaks for 3 months before they eventually faded away, with the help of tire sidewall dressing.

I painted the motor in-situ and stripped, buffed and cleared a few items -
the "to-do" list is finally getting shorter, let's have a look,

I still reckon that the styling hasn't dated on these bikes...

Time--have you gotten the red caps for the front forks pressure valve caps. If you're not sure what I mean, I'll take a pic of mine to show you.
