It might be that the #1 and #4 throttle plates were swapped in position at some point. Swap them around so the current #1 is in the #4 carb, and see if they fit better that way.

The shaft seals don't affect the side play of the shaft (that's fixed by the carb body and the grooves for the c-clips/synchronizing plates that hold the shafts into place), and there should be some end-play to it so that the shafts do not bind.

Only if loosening the mounting screws does not allow it to fit properly. Also try flipping it around front/back and top/bottom to see if you can find an orientation that allows them to seat properly. It is entirely possible that the throttle plates in those positions are not original to the carb rack, or that all four were moved around at some point.

    Hey guys
    Been awhile!
so I got two more butterflies from a fellow member and also went back over #4 carb and gave it a good clean. That old worn butterfly on #4 was blocking a hole on the idle circuit which I believe was stopping it from firing on idle.
Ow with everything synced and colour tuned she runs like a champ!
Think I finally have my jetting quite dialled too
Want to thank you all for your help and ideas

Now time to ride and run this engine in!

I have since finished my build so will post up photos soon

Good to hear. The little problems can be troublesome to find the solution to sometimes.
