    I emailed him and got a couple of emails before the end of the day. They are just 1/8 inch diameter by 1/2 long black aluminum rivets with washers on one end (inside the bag). I was able to cut the shaft and get the washers out to reuse them. I I will buy the rivets tomorrow to get this fixed. I wasn't sure if they were some sort of specialty rivet or what I originally suspected.

    I thoroughly enjoyed reading your thread Bob. I had no idea anyone was into this stuff, really cool. I can appreciate your attention to detail. I think Kawasaki offered a KZ1100 decked out similar to your Maxim.
