i suggest just doing the sync for now, they really should be done together but for the first time it can get overwhelming. do your sync, go for a ride, see what ya got, think about it and do the mixture the next day

If you have a vacuum gauge you can use that instead; it will just take a little longer since you have to swap the gauge between ports.

I found a pretty good write up on making a bottle one, gonna try that out! Just trying to read up on the yics portion of this process! Really don't wanna buy this tool! Trying to see if there's one I could make or how detrimental is it for sync'ing carbs?

The two-bottle tool is quite simple. Make sure you put light oil in your bottles (like ATF) not water.

Cut strips from an old T-Shirt, soak them in ATF, and stuff them into the YICS manifold; works just as good as the tool does.

You don't absolutely need to block the passage to get a good synch, but you do need to block them to get a perfect synch.

So I had a few beers and made this! Lol

I altered from the write up I found as I found that spark plug boots from a car seem to do the trick nicely!!

I don't think your setup will work. You should have two tubes in each bottle. One of them should almost touch the bottom of the bottle and should be immersed in fluid to allow the bottles to share fluid with each other, the other one is supposed to be way over the fluid level and connected to a vacuum port on a carb.

personally i'd rather use 2 bottles and spend my time moving hoses rather than trying to figure out what screw to turn in or out. That sure is fancy though

The hose that attaches to the carbs is only about a half inch into the bottle!

Trial and error, I've never done anything like this! It's easy enough to just use the two!

My 82 Maxim recently started clattering from what seems to be topside front of engine. Have not scoped it yet, but sounds to me like my volkswagen beetles did. Am hoping it is an exhaust pipe gasket leak. She is about due for new pipes anyway. But if not, guess the old girl will just keep clattering. Would rather hear a snidge of valve slap and not the sound of a dieing engine. Still, the bike is quieter than all the Harleys around here.

Same thing as a stick of incense. If you don't have any you can probably get them from a dollar store.
