Reset the cam chain tensioner, hoping it would fix a knocking noise

No luck, and I still can't figure out my stuttering issue -_-

Tested my 650R to see how waterproof it is. Nice hour ride in the cold, wind, and rain.

Looked at it....thought about it while I was at the all day baseball tournament with my son...then when we left the ball field the storms rolled in. Still storming as I write this. But tomorrow I am riding! Got my rain gear packed in the bags.

Started it after 8 months undercover. Water added to the battery cranked over on it's own and came to life. These are great bikes.

Pulled the plugs and checked the color, cleaned them up, changed the oil and rode the piss out of it. Met up with some friends and got to ride a Ninja 650r, lol, that was pretty cool! He rode the XJ 550 and now he wants one, said he loved the sound (like a ferrari he says, lol).

Dried her off and went for a short 10 mile spin. Longer ride tomorrow.

I think the 650 might have had me at top end, lol, but it sounded like shit doing it, so I'm still happy, he he!

Painted my gas tank. Black with a small amount of blue metal flake in an attempt to match the original finish. It turned out much beteer than I anticipated, even though I used more metal flake than the factory did. I used base coat, clear coat . I will color sand and buff it in the morning.

Wellll, this has been going on for a while, but this is how it looked before and how it looks now.
    [IMG][IMG]
Made up block off plates and got a bung for the filler, it's one of those that as you tighten it, it expands and seals:
    [IMG][IMG]
Threw in a length of small link chain and shook it for a while, gonna rinse and then put the "Metal Rescue" to the test.
Also put some more time in on the header after, before:

Now my knees are F*****G killing me, so that's enough for now.

Rode the heck out of it in the neighborhood. It goes like hell though! Love the sound too.

Still needs one carb gasket made, headlight, and brake pads. Waiting on a "SealMate" to show up so I can fix the leaky fork seal problem (that caused the pads to go bad). Then it's register and insure time!

Pulled up beside a guy on a Big Dog Chopper at a stoplight. We looked each other's rides over and gave a thumbs up. The light turned green and we started off. I shifted to 2nd and kept my acceleration even and I heard him gun his throttle and shift to 3rd. I just kept mine in 2nd and stayed even with him until........you guessed it. I hit that magic 7K and smoked him to the next light. Of course I let off so as not to exceed the limit and he blew past me. What great fun!

Got it out of the garage... it started raining... put it back in the garage... went out on the VFR instead (easier to clean).

Decided that while it was stripped down I'd get out the WD 40 and start wiping away the years of accumulated grime, grease and crud off the frame. Got about an hours worth in before the smell of the WD got to me. Must say the frame and various components haven't looked this clean for quite some time.
