New shorty exhaust and painted the collector black. Also installed a black billet side mount license plate with lights. And painted the rear peg brackets flat black.

Finished up the fuel sight gauge and remounted the tank, filled brakes with fluid and did a bleed, will bleed again later today. I'll also be filling the crank case with oil, bike has been dry for a year while I've been working on it.

Gave the lower frame the best $7 paint job money can buy. Installed new rear brake pads. Found problem and solution to top steering bearing race tallness issue (allballs). Installed forks and found huge error in tightening torque in Clymers compared to Yamaha manual. Front wheel installed. Pumped out front brake piston for cleaning/rebuild. Installed valve cover and new gasket. Ordered a new chain.

Did what I do every work day, ride with a smile. I noticed that another member has 94,000 miles on his XJ. I feel pretty confident that mine will last as long. I am at 57,000 on my 86 xj700x.

Clean out the front caliper for new seal dust wiper. Is it my imagination or does this need to be done often on the 550s?

    Installed euro-bars.

Took a short 20 mile ride and really liked the new seating position.

Bike seems a lot sportier and takes a bit of the weight off my tailbone. Probably can ride more comfortably for a longer period now.

Not sure if I exactly like the bends of euros yet. I think I may prefer some SR500 bars.

Checked my rear brake shoes for de-lamination!
Changed my final drive oil while I was at it.

Replaced my standard H4 headlight bulb with high performance bulb 50% brighter according to the pack?

Replaced my speedo backlight bulb.

Installed some black on black 2.5" guages. They look pretty good, but I need to reroute some wiring to make it look nicer. Also, I overlooked the neutral light and its backwards (on when in gear, off when in neutral). But it works!
