That's just not right, is it?

But it certainly did a fine job of getting my point across!

Just got done with some more mods on the bobber in the past few days. I changed the shocks to the exposed sping type to the enclosed ones with shorter springs inside. Looks better I think. Also recovered the seat and added 2" springs with a pivot in front. While I was checking the valves, I decided to paint the valve cover and carb tops with some pearl red paint and high heat clearcoat. I also painted the main case of the engine flat black to make it look better.
I swapped the big ugly square gauges with just a simple Honda speedometer and some LED lights for signal, high beam and nuetral indicators. Then I added the amp (under the tank) and speakers behind the windshield for some tunes while cruising.

I had to add a plate to the risers for my cigarette lighter and grip heater switch. It looks kinda tacky, but does the job for now. The mount on the left handlebar is for the little Walkman radio that hooks to the speakers. PD

Hey PD, I think you need to hit the ribs on the valve cover with gloss black. Same with the tops of the carb hats, leave the dimples red.

Hey. maybe your right! I guess it would accent the covers with some black in them. I'm still feeling out some ideas with the red yet. I don't want to over do it, just add a little sparkle here and there.
I want to do some graphics on the tank and fender yet, so I don't want to get too carried away with the rest of it and make it look like a circus wagon! PD

My take on it is that the rest of the bike has red accents. That ends up being a lot of red in the middle there.

Yup, gotcha. I agree. It may be a bit too much there. Thanks for the input!

Yesterday, i did a nice 80 mile bike ride.. used half a tank so. That keeps me in the 40-45mpg range still. Also did alot of running around in town handing out business brochures and business cards to new perspective clients!

52 Degrees and sunny! I rode it! I was trying to wait until we had a rain to wash the salt away, but I just couldn't stand it. So tomorrow, I'll be washing salt from Michigan snow melt puddles off it.

    Well worth it.

Those of us in Chilly Beach are insanely jealous of all the riders in the nether regions of the States where snow isn't and riding weather is. While it is completely snow-less here it is -13C (9F) with snow predicted for Saturday through Tuesday. Warming up to 2C (36F) at the end of next week but with all the salt on the roads we will likely have, I'll need to wait for the Big Melt or rain before I can bring myself to get it on pavement.

Cleaned out the case of my starter motor, degreased in and out. Ready to re-lube and re-assemble. Hoping for near zero temps so that I can at least install it without freezing my fingers, then fire her up.

Admired the stack of parts that arrived today. Proper handlebars! Woo hoo! Also bemoaned the weather. The one nice day we had I was too exhausted to get on it. (NOT exercising restraint in this area is how I had my first crash.)

P.S. Thanks for the parts, chacal. They all look good. Not sure when I'll get to INSTALL them... ;)

I removed the ignition switch from where it was on the upper tree and moved it down to the left side of the bike behind the engine just below the side cover.
Then I moved the after market speedometer closer to the handlebars.
And I painted the side covers I made out of aluminum. PD
