Removed old master cyclinder and brake lines. Some crud in fluid. Installed new master cyclinder. Waiting to install my new brake lines. Will probably look at replacing seals and such in caliper before I connect lines and fill system. Hey, Len expect an email soon for a seal kit :)

Well......I WAS going to tear off the triple tree change the fork oil/seal, polish the forks, mod the xj head light to use a set of xs fork ears, strip the handle down/clean, rip the turn signal and head light perch apart and clean all the contacts up, adjust the mirrors( can't ever seam to get the left side correct ) throttle side is perfect at all positions. then strip of the OEM gauges and put on a set of pristinely restored XS1100 cans on it. but by the time I got my honey do's done I looked and saw that it was at least 55 degrees out and it had rained all night (so the roads where clean) and the sun had dried them up.

Sitting on my wheelie chair getting ready to take the tire off I heard something very quiet echoing from the 26 year old bike. I listened real close and heard "I wanna Play...) Knowing damn well I always have the best intentions ,but usually fall short of my expectations I realized it might be a week or two before I get her back together again due to the fact that after it comes off the bike it doesn't go back until it's either been greased, wire wheeled, buffed, or painted.

So needless to say me and the bike went and played, She was in true form today and was cutting corners like it was on rails, 8 1/2 to 9 K shifts with no flat spots on the straights, and breaks better then expected. ....

Here's hoping to a rainy day or else it just might never get done

Have my carbs sitting here on my computer desk torn down to the rack, buffing internal parts and listening to them go CLUNK!! actually it sounds more like TACK!

The outside of the carb bowls now reflect your image, not quite like chrome and there are swirl marks in them, grrrrrr....would like to take the rest of the rack down to shine up the carb bodies too....but afraid Ill ruin something I dont have the money budgetted for right now ARACHNE is spread all over my shop floor waiting for me to order the rest of her parts so I can put her back together.

Got the parts installed in my carbs from chacal. Installed them and it fired right up. Pull the valve cover in AM and check valve clearance then sync if I have time.

Tank welded and fitted back on even though I had to retap one of the caged nuts for fitting to petcock on.

New Motad exhust fitted (Got a grat deal from Local Dealer) sounds sweet
I just want to ride with the visor up so I can hear her growlling. Dont know if it my imagination or not but I think she is a lot more responsive now

With a milder sort of winter today, I took off one head pipe to attempt a manifold stud repair. After seeing the stud broken off below the head surface and reading other people's trials with them in this forum decided my time would be better spent trying to Dremel the pipe instead. Turned out OK but some of the rust went below the chrome to the steel underneath.

With the rust off the steel, what is the best way to protect that bare metal from rusting further?

I left the petcock on last night on my Yamaha WR. I was treated to a nice pool of 2-stroke gas de-greasing my garage floor for me this morning.

I swapped in an amber fog light for my white one, swapped my old, sunblasted gauges for my nice, pristine gauges I scored from ebay, and I installed the center stand spring and got rid of the zipties that were holding it up. I also found all my idle screws shut tight so now my bike idles.

Today I bought a rear softail fender at a junk yard that I am going to mod to my XJ 650 Maxim. Now I'm contemplating on whether I should get a wider rear tire or make the fender fit the stock size tire????

Started to work on my 1100 carbs that were spread all over the shop. Looks like I found about 97% of the parts so I'm puting them back togeather. Hope they work when done.
