I smashed the still functioning, but completely rusted in, rear turn signal bulb. Used needle nosed pliers and dug out the bulb base. Cleaned the socket with emery cloth and installed a new bulb using dielectric grease. No idea if it works though because the battery is still in the basement. Start up date is mid May hopefully.

Fitted another new rear tire and the old girl easily passed the MVI. But it was quite a chat with the testing mechanic - he thought the front brake pads were worn out and wouldn't believe that they were beveled (wedge-shaped) right from the factory.

Actually located a new replacement windshield for my Windjammer fairing right here in Truro NS. Only person more surprised than me was the parts guy.

Earliest ride ever was March 17 of this year. Ride on, ride safe!

swapped the headlight out for a silverstar ultra much whiter light better to see in the dark and i hope better for people to see me in the day, swapped to Rear LED light bulb replacements for the tail/brake. so I now have brighter hopefully safer lights.

OK... touched up the paint on side panels, tank and rear fender...
Put her all together and fired her up (had the carbs of for cleaning over the winter) .....
She idle sgreat, but one of my carb bowls is leaking ,,,,
I had one with a bad gasket, had been holding up until now .......

So I need new gaskets (might as well replace both) and front reflectors
One broke when she got blown over in the storm at the end of last year , just noticed that today...

Did a 50 mile check-out trip. Still some tuning to go, but it seems to be riding pretty good.

Changed oil (to Amsoil 10W40), and oil filter, and tweaked mixture and idle air control warmup curves a bit while warming up the oil to drain it. Oil filter basket was missing the washer that goes on top of the spring, so I had to fab one in the lathe.

Didn't get to ride today, though, since the weather was cold and on/off snowing... doesn't look much better for tomorrow.

As long as I had mini floorboards on my bike with the forward controls, I decided to add another shift lever to the back of the pivot...now I have a heal-toe shifter! I was sceptical to do it, not knowing if I'd like the extra rear control or not. But now after riding it today, I like it. I never had a bike with a heal-toe shifter on it and I like it. I may have to do the same thing to my Shadow too.
