Ordered my new steering head bearings and fork seals....
Today, plan to find a good mounting point for my new horn ..

A couple of weeks back add in some soft saddle bags and made a tank bag from half of a $10 ATV tank bag and some old magnets from some scrapped hard drives :)

I think I just bought a wet nitros kit this morning. I'll have to see if everything is there thats supposed to be but you know how that goes. $200.00 USD Full fogger kit for four carb engine. 8O I might have to put this on before winter. :) Lets see those 600 rockets run away from me now. only thing is I'll have some major rejetting to do again and it looks like I'll be enginering a timing retard box.

    So far today...
Replaced the steering head bearngs with tapered one... was easier than I thought... biggest pain is getting everything removed so you can get at the trees

    so far so good...

Fork seals are next, just finished lunch, and now going to view a used set of forks that may have unpitted tubes... here's hoping......

Noticed the front brake pads are getting worn, will need replacing for next season, enough wear left to finsh out the year fine

OK got the tubes were pitted, in some places a bit worse than mine, but the travel area is completely free... got them cleaned up and installed new seals and a 15W oil (over the 10 last time). Still need to reconnect the wiring and put my headlight back on, hopefully a good test run tomorrow.

Guy i got the forks from also gave me a reflector to replace my broken one and a stock chain guard so I can replace my homebrew cookie sheet one :)

all in all i spent november thru july doing chain and sprockets and fork seals and a tune up to my maxim. wife's view of time spent was 9 months. actual time working where something was accomplished, probably just around 3 to 4 hours, lol. it never ends i drive an 81 buick ride the 82 maxim and now a 77 xs 750. gotta fix one to get to work the next day. o well tho, the maxim's head gasket seems to have cured itself for now, this winter i'll swap motors which has 16,000 then it should be good for a while mechanically speaking any how.

I wrapped up a month long carburetor rebuild project.
I color-tuned today until I was Bunsen Blue in the face, but it was worth it. Tune-Sync-Tune-Sync…
Everything tuned out smooth and responsive. :D

Took apart the factory fairing (1981 XJ750 Seca) so I could lose all screws and springs and other hardware way down into its nooks and crannys so I could replace the bulb in my headlight inside the fairing.

I cleaned the real glass cover of the fairing cover for the headlight, got it all together except one broken trim screw. Tested the new lamp, all worked great, except I forgot to clean the front of the headlight inside the fairing. So now I have to look at the gook and grime through the clean glass of the fairing's headlight.

Also successfully passed the state motorcycle driving test. Also started to clean the rusted and grubby chrome exhaust pipes -- great condition, just never cleaned or polished.

Also applied "Back to Black" to black plastic surfaces of the bike and fairing. Looking better every day.

Also tried to take a ride up Continental Divide in street clothes and half helmet, when it started to rain and spit. Ten miles up the mountain I tucked tail and retreated. Rain felt like BBs. To heck with it.

Then wifey said I was spending too much time in the garage so I had to come in.

All in all, a good day...

Darn near rode the wheels off the thing.

Pulled the windscreen off and sourced some capscrews to remount the handlebars on Friday.

Well, today it has 50 km on the clock (+ 100000 km) so i changed the engine oil and cleaned it up so it was clean and shiny. Listen to the sound from the engine and it still was the nicest rock and roll. Noticed that i have to change tires at the end of the season. Think i will go for a ride today the weather is nice and sunny.
No more thinking I'll go NOW ...

Finished a sync with my new 2-bottle sync tool. Bought the X in June and have now completed valve shims, carb cleaning, Dyna-coil conversion, Colortune and sync. But it was raining today... tomorrow we ride.
