What kind of oil?

    That WAS the motorcycle specific 20W50 AmsOil. The starter clutch acted up almost immediately, and was cured almost immediately with the oil change. The 750 with 15,000 MORE miles was not affected by synthetic.

    That's why SOME people here at XJBikes will swear by synthetics, and some will swear AT synthetics.

    I use Valvoline Motorcycle 20w50 in my 550. Regular Valvoline 10w40 and Castrol 10w40 both gave clutch slippage problems. Switching to the Valvoline Motorcycle 20w50 made the transmission act normal, and the bike seems to start easier.
