What stupid thing did I do to my Yamaha today? I drove my subaru for 3 hours. Looked at every biker I saw with sad puppy dog eyes.

For future reference, The YICS valve cover bolts are shouldered, Once they bottom out they are tight, and should not be tightened any more. I'm sure you knew this, but others may not.

Well..I didn't do anything stupid with my Yamaha, other than not ride it enough this week---a few hundred miles racked up, but that's about it. On a different note, I DID finally get started in earnest on one of my car projects---- got the whole back end torn off, and the whole front clip is off, right down to an engine sitting on a frame. baOdy mounts are all out, and the body is just about read to start lifting up and away from the frame. (1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport 351c-4v CJ........but currently has a 429 )

Oh was that when you hit neutral between first and second ...;) That's not the bad part.. It's when you click it back in gear and that awful rattle when it tries to get back into gear :(

No, no, it was when I shifted without totally releasing the throttle, you know, actually, it was all very smooth shifting, no rattle down there ! That's what I call "power shifting". It doesn't refer to not using the clutch at all, this would have been a bit stupid.

late in posting Hit a moose. 6/29/16
still waiting for left hand to close far enough to squeeze the clutch so I can ride out the rest of the year
handle bars bent stright up but mirrors worked as designed did not break, fender twisted into tire slashing out some rubber, headlight boxed, cluster foldeb back, speedo and tach cable pulled out, key post sheared off , lost 2 left side directionals. small crunch in gas tank foot peg on crash guards sheared off.

moose doa, me life flighted . I have a $50,000 facial reconstruction finding new screws daily.
at least I got to take my own helmet off.

$hit, a moose is a big and heavy beast, heavier than your bike with you on it. Did it happen at night ?
