I'm not sure the mileage but I rode my '85 XJ from Salt Lake City to LA, then up to San Francisco, then back across Nevada through Reno to Salt Lake City again. Took a total of 5 days. The bike handled great, but it was 2 weeks before I was able to walk normal again.

I'm planning a trip the second week of August. I'll be traveling from The International Peace Gardens in ND to the Yellowstone Park area. I want to hit the Bearstooth Pass and also the Big Horn Mtn pass west of Sheridan. Keep your eyes open for a white Seca 550, I'll buy you a beer (or pop) if we meet each other!

Longest one day trip on the 1982 XJ750RJ, Sweet Scarlet, 617 miles (987Km) from Amarillo, TX to Warda, TX with a few scenic stops along the way. First 300 miles were fun, last 300 miles were work. Drove down for the 2008 Central Texas Carb Clinic. Broke the drive up in two days on the way back about 250 miles the first day, detouring through the Texas hill Country, 400 miles the second day. 1267 miles (2027Km) in three days. Going to do it again this May for the CTCC but two days both ways this time.

Longest trip on the 1982 XJ750RJ Gray Ghost was when I flew to St. Louis, MO from Amarillo, TX when I bought him last year. Road from St. Louis to Joplin MO, the first day, then Joplin, MO to Amarillo the next day. Around 850 miles in two days. Great weather until the last 3 hours when I hit the remnants of a Pacific hurricane coming over the Texas Panhandle that dropped 6 inches of rain in those three hours. (Aerostich Triple Digit Rain Gloves WORK!)

I ride either one to work (25mile round trip) most every day of the week unless it is raining, snowing, and icy (though I did get caught in an ice storm on one ride home, don't plan to do that again).

1982 XJ750RJ Sweet Scarlet 21,000 miles and counting (original around 5600 when purchased in 2007)
1982 XJ750RJ Gray Ghost 11,000 miles and counting (original around 7000 miles when purchased in 2008)
1982 XJ750RJ Bones (to be stripped to the bones, no more miles just parts)

I would definitely do the 1000k in 24 hours again. It is a weird, crazy, and life-changing journey. I would love to have company next time.

I've done a 1500 Mile round trip on my Seca. I went to El Paso from Ft. Worth and back over 4 days. Most of the riding was on the 1st and last day. No windshield, but I had rebuilt the seat. It would have been pure torture without that. That's not out of state, but if you look at a map, it's about as far from Ft. Worth to El Paso as it is from El Paso to California.

I've also taken it down to the hill country a couple of times. A couple weeks ago I did 1200 miles in 3 days and tore up the twistier roads that are there.

My longest day is about 600 miles.

The bike has also been to northern Arkansas and to N.C. (the Dragon) but it got to those places on a trailer. And before someone starts - two up with luggage and a wife that's around social security age ain't happening for more than 3-400 miles a day on a Seca!

San Francisco to Pomona, saw a show, then rode back to LA, in a day! on an '80 xj650. ouch. about 500 miles? I've done LA to SF a few times, a couple times in winter/rain with no windshield. It's sometimes fun being the only motorcycle out. Where are the Harley guys on cloudy days?

Chicago to Detroit a few times about 300miles each way But that was on my goldwing. My old XJ750 prolly only 80miles at a time nothing big. After new tires and heavy duty shocks im going to put on my XJ550 hopefully i can get some long rides off of it. Just sucks that the speedo doesnt go over 85

My longest was when I moved from Aiken, SC to Atlanta, GA (170 miles) on my stock '82 XJ650 SECA. Of course, I went the "long way 'round" though Dogpatch Arkansas with a side trip to New Orleans. I ended up with about 2500 mi by the time I was through. The longest and most painful day was the last, 500 mi all interstate.

While in the Air Force on a 3 day weekend drove from Loring Maine to Allentown PA. 750 Miles one way. Took 11 hours one way when the speed limit was 55 all the way. Took my bike home just to show it off. Stopped in Hartford Conn. at a hardware store bought a broom stick and a roll of tape. Broke the sweeper end off and taped to the frame to make my home made highway bars. Worked like a charm.

From Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada, to Oconto WI (about 281mi) in an evening, grabbed some shuteye for about 4 hours, then from Oconto, straight through to Owensville, MO (about 602mi). In essence, I left here in the Sault at about 10pmone night, and arrived in Owensville about 27 hours later.

The trip down was cool and threatening rain. Got caught in a deluge outside of St Louis, MO. The trip back was longer, it was hot and I'd give the bike some cooling time at each refueling stop.

All on my 83 stock 650 Maxim. Normally kept her to about 60-65MPH instead of the posted speed limit on the interstate. It was the first trip I took the old girl on and wanted to be easy on her.

My butt was OK from the trip (I have some "extra padding" back there), but boy, were my inner thighs ever sore when I got back here. Had issues walking for a few days afterward.
