74 degrees today (Halloween) in the metro Detroit area, but couldn't ride to work due to uncontrollable circumstances. It IS some of the best riding when the sun is out and the trees are ablaze. Norton is down for the season, but I'll be on my Seca tomorrow and Sunday, it's supposed to be in the 60's.

Still going in northern NS as well - way to go Ghost! 2007 saw her go down Dec 1. Shooting for Dec 8 this year. And I agree with Peli - best time of year is the fall, as long as the leaves are clear. This week is supposed to be sunny and up to 15C (59F), great weather for being up on two wheels.

no problems since I got this running in april. and added 2,500 miles as well. Looking forward to the top end teardown this winter may take the engine out completely and work in the basement on it .

Looks like I'll be still riding for another week. The weatherman is co-operating. It was nice and sunny today, but yesterday was the best. Never saw somany bikes on the road. My arm got sore from waving all those hellos. :D

I will be riding probably into February, we have VERY mild winters here on the Shore. I will try and ride as much as I can, especially since I missed most of the summer.

Southwest Michigan, we still have green leaves mixed in with lots of red and yellow. It's the most beautiful season. There's bikes riding through every weekend, but almost nobody riding on weekdays except me, and some occasionals.

    Man you are nuts!
    Under 50F is cold.
No matter how many layers of long underwear and jackets you got.
At 20F going 60mph any exsposed skin has less then 5 minutes before it starts to freeze.
I love to ride but damn.

Under 35 is cold 20's is nuts to me - the rest is easy. I've gone down to 35 on the morning commute. A good textile jacket with liner, sweatshirt and shirt. Ski pants over jeans and heavy gloves. No problems. I have a neck gaiter( kind of a tube scarf), a full face helmet with a wind blocker to keep the air from blowing under and a windshield.

Hate to not ride when the ride home is in the 60s...

Exactly! I have virtually the same cold weather riding apparel list and although 37 at dawn IS a bit nipply but not uncomfortable, when it's in the 60s for the ride home, it's worth it!

Weather has been outstanding lately. I took one last ride on the Seca this weekend before putting it away. I still have room in the garage for my little Suzuki 125. It is an easy to and from work thru town, only getting up to 40 MPH. Going home should be nice. 67 today and 70 tomorrow. I may never put the 125 away.

Just got back home(Michigan)from North Carolina. After an 11 hr drive I got right on the bike for a short ride. Started right up after three weeks sitting outside with a cover on it. I'll ride till the snow sticks or December when my plate and insurance need renewal.
It sure is more hospitable to bikers down in NC.
I checked out the Blue Ridge parkway(near grandfather mtn) while I was down there and that is tailor made for a nice bike type cruise. Everyone down there rides Harleys for some reason. I only saw a few gold wings and Jap cruisers there. Man what a beautiful place!
Gotta bring my bike down one of these days.....

I rode in tonight for just that reason, it will be 62 tomorrow, that means my ride home will be at least in the 50's.
I guess you are right, if I wore what I wear to snowmobile I'd be much warmer.
    43 coming in tonight.
With long underwear top and bottom, jeans, hoodie, winter jacket, lined leather gloves, full face, I was only cold for the first 15 minutes.
I forgot my scarf, which is essential.
I have a neck gator never thought of using it for riding, great idea.

I ride round trip 30 miles everyday. I only plan on putting the bike up when ice is on the ground, then I will wait 1 week and if it melts I will ride again. I t will go up for 6 weeks in January as I have a military trip I have to go on, but when I come back it will be late february and I will ride again.

I'm a 'rounder. I don't even put the liner in my Olympia Phantom until it gets below 40. As long as there isn't snow or ice and the oil isn't sludge, I'll ride. But I do have a Vetter fairing to hide behind, which helps. In 13+ years of ownership, I've never 'winterized' my Seca other than putting lighter oil in it.

Not sure if I'll store the WR250R this winter or try to ride it a few times a month.

Polypro, goretex and a pair of Danner boots and it's all good!!!! Probably gonna put it away sometime today, for a while at least. You see, it's supposed to snow tomorrow and I've done that before (not on purpose). Not gonna ride in snow again.

    Did anyone else commute today?

The good thing and bad thing about riding in San Diego Ca. There is no off season here. So when I pull the Seca apart in a few weeks to paint it. I bet everyday will be warm and sunny, just to tease me!

Up here in VT there is definitely a down time. Unfortunately, today and yesterday were great riding days and I had to drive in both days to have the cars worked on. :( And after Monday, I'll be on the sidelines for 6 weeks so I seriously doubt there are going to be any riding days the end of December up here.

So, I guess I'll put my bike semi to bed this weekend. I say 'semi' since I do plan to be doing some work on it this winter. But I'll wash it, stabilize the fuel and put the battery on the tender for now.

I am still riding. Only plan on putting it up for 6 weeks for a military buisness trip. I plan to ride all year. I have a carhartt full length suit and thermal underwear for the cold days. I ride 60 miles round trip.

Yep and Tuesday. (Had to drive the cage yesterday, dammit.) Nipply 41 when I left, upper 50s when I got into downtown Motown (63 miles one way.) Supposed to get near 70 again today, but this looks like it for a while. Rain starting tomorrow and then the temp drops with highs in the 40s all next week with rain. I'm not complaining tho, it's November 6 and this is Michigan!!!

Rode another 160+ today, the weather was great for Michigan...might be the last day to ride. I just got in and it's 9:00pm. Just turned 8,300 miles on the bike. I am the second owner.

    Good riding.

For Michigan, I'm afraid you're right, at least over here on the east side of the mitten. When I got home a couple hours ago I popped the oil drains, it's down for the winter now. I can always pull the project bike out if we get a nice day.

Where you from on the East side? I rode to Flint, Frankenmouth and Saginaw and back to Owosso on Monday. My project bike is a 78 Yamaha 750 special, Triple. Won't be finished with it till spring so I probably won't get out again.

Capac, gateway to the thumb. Two miles north of I69 halfway between M53 and M19. I work in downtown Detroit, try to ride my 550 to work at least 2-3 times a week in season.

Absolutely poured here today! Temps were nice at 16C (61F) but the deluge was too much for me so I caged it. Lots of fine weather left, maybe a month before Nature paves the roads for Santa.

:D It finally quit raining for a while, so I rode to work today. Got rained on just a little this morning, and I had to detour around a flood, but this afternoon was very nice. Gonna do it again tomorrow, unless things get really icy overnight.

Changed the oil and took the battery out and brought it in. It was raining now for the last couple of days and calls for -1C (32F) for next week. She is parked for the winter in the garage. Now to wax and oil her up so there will be no rust during the next 3-4 months.

Currently outside it's blowing a gale, rain showers, some freezing rain, wet snow showers predicted tonight, and for the next few-the same. Then the sun will break on a 32º day. I got cables bolted to the battery leads with clips on the ends, to clip onto my car battery. I'm starting and running my '83-XJ750 Seca off the car, just to keep fresh gas in the carbs. No sense buying a new battery until I can ride it everyday. I can barrow the battery, and license plate from my Suzuki GS1100G when we get dry weather, for riding until spring.
To bad, I got some plug chops to do still, but I won't waste a minute of the little bit of clear weather we may get working in the garage, from now until April.
I rode yesterday, but I don't have a windscreen on it, so I have to lean way over the gages. I don't like that. Winter project is to fabricate a half fairing from aluminum. I'm ready for that project for sure.

My eyes water too bad on the highway. I plan on riding most of the year I saw about 4 more bikes on the road Euless tx.

It wasn't so bad today. About 5pm we decided to call it a day. It was clouding up, then it started to drizzle, and the temp took a nose dive. EEEK. By the time we got off Clinch Mountain there was white stuff falling from the sky... what is this stuff?

Tons of bikes out today! Sunny and chilly, but dry after 8-9 days of rain. Sweetie tweaked her back, so no ride today, but gonna layer up and go for a long solo ride tomorrow.
