    I rode Friday too.
62 and over cast but, what do you want?
    Rode Today, Sunday, 45, sleet.
First time water on the rode scaried me, kept thinging it was going to be frozen.
Not very nice but, needed parts for the cage.

Somebody flipped the "winter" switch here in eastern lower Michigan, riding weather all done. Highs low-mid thirties for the next week with snow showers everyday. Both operational bikes down for the winter. My project bike isn't put up though, I'm still working on it so if we DO get a nice day...

I'm done. I woke up today to find snow... it dashed all my hopes. I got a nice room in my garage that's heated to let it live out the winter.

Some of us here don't live where the weather is warm year round.
So the XJ gets tucked in for a long winters nap.

I put mine away in the igloo about two months ago. I hope to see it again in May.

Looks like the old Maxim goes away this weekend. Old Man Winter has finally found us and after an inch of snow (followed by a ton of salt) it looks like heavy snow Saturday. 'Bye sweetie, until April 1.

Not looking good now... been grounded all week and last night... ugh....
Too much snow , too early :(

Well, it will be gone next week some time, can use that time to prep the shed, may get a few runs in before putting away for the winter...

I'm still riding! Dipped into the 30s the other morning...

My bike hates the cold. Its almost odd. If she sleeps inside she runs GREAT the next morning, but if not I can't get her started even after10min of bump starting attempts.

I am looking for something to keep wind off my neck and out of my helmet., suggestions?

Thanksgiving Day, took an hour ride. Sunny day 40º.
Southwest Michigan, country landscape. Had to honk at a doe, she was standing in the road.
    It was great! :D

I was 48 degrees in Balt/DC today. I have ridden 82 miles since I got the float bowls turned back right side up.

Another 20 miles and I will fill the tank and check the milage for the first time.

Took the rear wheel off of the parts bike. Sanded on the axle and then put it to the buffing wheel.

Next is order brake shoes and put them on the wheel with the good tire.

After that its a trip on the highway!

I use a ski hat that is a thin skull cap with a fuzzy neck warmer attached. You pull it over your head and neck. It makes the helmet a tighter fit. If you position it correctly it cuts off all air from coming up under the helmet.

    She's in bed.
Took the last ride Friday 40F out, cold but sunny.
Added the Seafoam, topped off the tank, changed the oil, charged the battery brought it inside.
It's a crying shame cause She's running so good.

Have you cleaned the enrichment circuit in your carb bowls?

    Look at Gamuru's "How to".
    http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=8918.html

I suspect that you have plugged enrichment passages.

If not that then maybe your choke cable has too much slack.

After that maybe new battery and/or new spark plugs.

I bought a balaclava from Roadgear. Works great and doesn't affect helmet fit

Sorry, forgot to mention. Be careful if you wear your balaclava indoors. I put mine on before I went out of the house and Bullethead(our Boston Terrier) nearly delaminated. Kinda funny though! :)

    Half,
I've had the same thought these last few days. I get my garage (and a SWEET '81 650 Maxim) in about 30days. I'll look at it then.

The bike had sat since Wed afternoon. It was rather wet yesterday (bike sits outside). When I got back home from the holiday I tried to start her. It took a large hill and a fair amount of pushing. This morning I tried something new, I put her in 2nd gear, clutch pulled and pushed her about 20feet; just enough to get the oil moving. She fired right up. It was less than 40deg.

I work on mine on days that I can't ride it.
I have become expert at getting the valve cover off and on quickly.

Rode to/from work twice today. Had to meet a tow truck at the house at lunch.

Not very many other cyclists on the road with 21 deg F temperatures.

Mine needs some cosmetic work- frame, tank and side covers all need to be painted,so it's going to be stripped down for a while.I've been torn between wanting to get it done and wanting to ride as long as possible.Mother Nature made my decision for me.

Mine has been resting now for a month. She is all oiled up and waxed. Too cold in the garage to work on it. Will wait till spring when it will be warm enough, but still cold to ride.

I'm lucky here... the temp doesn't go below 15C.... so I can at least work on mine and ride it....just painted the gas tank and cleaned up the chrome and aluminium.... I put a clear over the aluminium parts and she looks great!....need to clean up the engine a bit bcz the previous owner sprayed it with silver paint...thinking of taking off the valve cover and buff it up.

28f right now. Rode to work @ ~40f, went out at lunch and the gauges and mirrors were covered in ice. I see more precip falling...maybe I should leave work early? Hmm...

Rode it last night home at night. Very cold but I'm holding out for a warm streak. I think I'll put her in the shed Nov1.

None of mine are down yet, the trees just started turning finally. Although it's only going to be in the 40s today, we're supposed to get a warm snap next week (up to 58 according to Weather.com) and I'm ready.

After that, I'll probably mothball the Nort and one XJ and leave the other XJ operational until it snows.

Good ol' Minnesota, never know what's up with the weather. Got 2" of snow monday, rained off and on all week. Saturday (today) going to in the mid 40s (good enough for me) and 60s on Sunday. The bikes are still waiting to be ridden. Haven't put the Seafoam in them yet, so I may as well ride them (one of them anyways)

I'll ride again this year when it quits raining for a while. Looking at the long range forecast, that might be awhile, though.

Monday has the potential to be a pretty decent day at least for a short ride. As long as I'm still cleaning up leaves on the lawn I hold out hope.

The winter monsoons have started up here in the Pacific Northwest. Not sure if I'll pack up for the season, or hold on for the rare sunny day.

Took the bike out to go meet my HAM club for dinner, it was 35 degrees when I left. I need a new helmet, there's too much air coming up from under the chin area.

I pulled my plugs today to look at them, I'm running rich on all cylinders. I think a valve check/adjustment and a synch/color tune needs to be put on the calendar soon.

I am so jealous of those who are still ridding. The Michigan climate would not normally stop me but my bike refuses to start when it gets below 50 or around there during the night.

I have know idea why it wont start. Maybe i should post in one of the fix-it sections huh? lol.

I live in Louisiana, we have some cold weather, but there's usually breaks in it every now and again. I'm hoping there are some this year as I just got the bike and it won't be 'til about mid November before I can get all my gear and get it registered and ready to ride!

Mine is waiting for that one last hurrah. I've got high hopes that the weather will cooperate for us weinies that want the weather to be on the warmer side. Then it's probably nite-nite so it can get a new paint job.
