    Lightning Len (Chacal) comes through again!!!!!

    I ordered on a Friday, got the parts on Monday....Wow, that's fast! And I ordered late on Friday evening, too.

    And the best part is that he doesn't use those f-ing styrofoam peanuts!

    Thanks again, Len!

    Floogle! I hate styrofoam peanuts, too! But I do use them for overseas shipping, as the weight savings adds up. However, I always use environmentally friendly, re-cycled f-ing peanuts that someone else had sent to me first, and I think it's only fair that I pawn them off onto someone else rather than dispose of them into a landfill somewhere.

    But other than in those situation, for the most part no----no peanuts will ever be harmed in the course of doing business here!

    Thanks for the props, and I'm just as amazed that you got your package so quickly, too!

    I guess it really helps to be in business next door to the world's busiest airport.......

    Re: XJ PARTS FOR SALE---FOR ALL MAXIM, SECA, AND TURBO MODEL

    Hi Chacal,
    I just bought a '82 XJ750 Maxim with only 3,300 miles. It's been sitting for a few years and when I bought it, the owner told me that the carbs needed cleaned and it didn't run. Now that I've found this site, it has given me the courage to tear into the carbs myself (Rick Massey's thread). The problem is that I've never done it before on a motorcylce so I don't know what all I need. I've started on the bottom end and the bowl gaskets were hard and brittle. The bowl wasn't too dirty but I can see some scum in some of the passages. I decided not to go any further till I get the right equipment for the job.

    I've made a list of some of the tools I would like to get but I don't know what gaskets, seals and O-rings I should replace. I want to do it right the first time. Do you have a kit already made up with all the necessary parts?

    Thanks for all your help.

    Do you have a decent airbox lid for a 1981 XJ650 Maxim? I have a good airbox on it, but the lid is missing. Got a filter, too?

    I thought I saw an alternate gauge cluster somewhere in the forums for the Maxims that is round instead of square but I can not find it. Anyone have any ideas or any links to where I could find such items. I would like to get a Speedo that goes to 120 and have the gauge cluster rounded instead of the standard box style.

    The color tune and mixture adjustment tool work great. Less than an hour and I have all 4 carbs color tuned. Going to take a test ride now.

    I have a 82 xj750j maxim, at 55 mph the rpms are really high. Is this a normal gear ratio or can I change it?

    Depends on what you consider really high. If you want more answers you would get more attention creating your own thread or looking for a simmilar subject.

    On this side of the thread I need to replace my right front turn signal assembly and lens. Any ideas on the part numbers and cost Chacal?

    HCP7569 Aftermarket DOT-approved complete TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY, polished chrome rectangular housings, 3-wire design (flashers and running lights), with a flat rectangular orange lense. Will fit all of the following models: XJ550 Seca front or rear, and 1982 XJ750 Maxim front or rear. See the NOTES below regarding these turn signals. Each:
    $ 29.95

    HCP7569SET2 Aftermarket TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY, set of 2:
    $ 56.00

    HCP7569SET4 Aftermarket TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY, set of 42:
    $ 99.95

    [b/]NOTES ON HCP7569 SIGNAL UNITS:[/b]

    b) these turn signals are the same design and style as the stock signal units, which were originally a 2-wire (flashers only) design. The 3-wire design of these signals allows them to be used as running lights as well as perform their flasher function. Models not originally using their turn signals as flasher lights can be converted by tapping into the rear brake system running light circuit (usually a blue wire) and running that wire to the running light wire lead on these turn signals. Check your local laws for the legality of using running lights on vehicles not originally equipped with them.

    The above units do not come with the rubber mounting bushing, which would need to be ordered separate if needed:

    HCP3563 OEM turn signal STAY BUSHING, flanged black rubber hollow "bullet" fits over the front turn signal housing cover stem and adapts the stem to the turn signal housing neck. Used only on these models: 1982 XJ750 Maxim front, and all XJ750 Seca front. Each:
    $ 5.95

    HCP3563SET2 OEM turn signal STAY BUSHINGS, set of 2:
    $ 10.50

    Len You Rock,

    Not only do you have this stuff in stock but multipules. ( in my case 16 bowl drain screws for 4 Hatachi carbed bikes ) Nicely packaged, and prompt shipping.

    Note: To all that purchase parts from Len This guy is Totaly Professional and its worth buying from a fellow XJ'er that puts so much into these parts and shipping.
    As A fellow business owner My hat is off to you sir.

    Thanks and I am Looking Forward to place my next parts order.

    Hey MN-Maxims, thanks...........did you already get your order, really? I just shipped it on Tuesday! Wow. I'm now locked in mortal combat with the Post Office (of all people!) to see who can do a better job.......although, I admit, the "the Post Office" is really not a "people", but you know what I mean...

    Hey Len, me again! Do you carry the XJ650H exhaust mounting studs? (Haynes book, P. 54, Fig 1.3, item #7) Our local dealer can get them from Yamaha, but if you stock them, maybe you can deliver faster? I can usually buy the nuts locally, but you might as well quote if you have them as well. Jeff.

    Re: XJ PARTS FOR SALE---FOR ALL MAXIM, SECA, AND TURBO MODEL

    I wanted to add my appreciation to Len for the great job he does in getting us our parts. I received my starter solenoid in two days from the time of order to in my hands, and my bike is back up and running (with a part that the local Yamaha dealer wanted $198 for- I got it from Len for $40 and change, shipped). It's great to have such a realiable resource. I'm waiting to get my new fuse panel (which I should have just ordered with the solenoid) but am confident it'll be here in now time. :D

    Hello Chacal, Len, XJ Fairy?

    I think I made a blunder, just the first of what will probably be many. Stripped the threads out of the oil sump on my 1980 Maxim 650. I've been having nightmares all night about it and woke to find it was not a dream. I have myself an oil leak.

    Doe you or does anyone sell the sump pan for my bike? or do you think it is repairable? Assistance will be much appreciated!

    Hey Ground, thanks, glad to help.

    Okay, now Steve, you're going to have to drop that "xjfairy" stuff or I won't be selling any parts to you anytime soon........

    The oil pan is not really threaded, the bolts go through the pan and directly into the engine case, so replacing the pan won't really do you much good (if I correctly understand what issue you are describing). If you really did strip the mounting bolt holes for the oil pan that are in the engine CASE, you're going to have to do some surgery on those holes to repair them, meaning re-tapping the threads or, more likely, using a heli-coil thread repair insert. Not easy to do with the engine still in the bike, although depending on which hole(s) are stripped, it may be possible by flipping the bike over on it's back.

    Ditto on the parts order. Got my shipment fast! Cant wait to get some of these leaks under control. As always, it's not just the parts that you have, it's the information you supply with them that is invaluable.

    Thanks again!!!!
