Yes, the 81 has the black screws. The 82 has the clear. I'll wait patiently for your next msg.

OK, keep me in mind if you can ever locate one of those rubber headlight rings.

Is the black rubber edging for the windscreen/fairing available?

    Len,
Thanks a lot for the parts that I got thru you. I am very satisied with the quality of your merchandise. It is nice to find ONE place to get almost anything I need for my bike. Emailing someone who knows about their product is a lot better than searching for hours for a part and then trying to work with someone who doesn't know anything about what they are selling.

I will be placing another order soon. Looks like I will have to rebuild some brake calipers soon!

    Thanks again,
    Jerry

Cool, I'll take one but I'll wait until you find out about the plastic windshield screws.

Hey guys, thanks for the words.

Hornet....I should know about the screws next week......I've found a supplier, and am awaiting final price quotes. The "clear" ones won't be cheap, and they aren't 100% clear, either----the machining process produces very fine scratches in the surface, and thus the screw head appears slightly "cloudy". Since it's a surface imperfection, MAYBE they can be spun-polished to remove the surface haze and have them be clear again (the material used is actually clear, it's just the machining process that clouds the surface). Haven't been able to find anyone who injection molds these screws (which is the only way to get them crystal-clear). I'll let you know. The black screws/washers/nuts should be no problem, and I'll have pricing on them at the same time.

    Len,

Thanks again for fast turnaround and quality parts. I can't believe the PO left the spring and washer out of the oil filter assembly. One step closer to riding season! Can you do anything about this snow?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Khornet........okay, I finally got in samples of the 550 Seca windshield mounting screws. Now I'm in a quandry and need your help.

The BLACK screws that I received have a wide, rounded, phillips head design....what I think is called a "truss head" design in the fastener industry.

The CLEAR screws have what is generally referred to as a "panhead" design, which is basically what is used on almost every phillips head screw that you generally see.....i.e. 99.9% of the metal screws on the bike have a "panhead" design phillips screw.

    http://www.smithfast.com/msheadstyles.html

The '82 fairing that I have SEEMS to have original screws (those are the clear ones), and they are of a "panhead" design.

The '81 fairing that I have came without factory screws, or I've lost them somewhere along the way.......

Can you confirm for me what head design/style your fairings have, by year? If you could give me the measurement (outside diameter) of the screws that would be great.

Also, are you sure that the screws in your fairings are original?

    Thanks for all your help!

Re: XJ PARTS FOR SALE---FOR ALL MAXIM, SECA, AND TURBO MODEL

    Len,

Thank you so much for all the help finding the parts I needed for my '85 xj700. You really cleared things up very well, and I'm satisfied that I got the things I needed.

I have to say, customer service is always very important to me, because I think that attention to detail in answering questions is also represented with attention to detail in filling orders and dealing with possible problems (not that I expect any!). So, needless to say, I am very happy so far and will certainly come to you first with any future xj parts needs.

I haven't put on the parts yet, but I'm getting pumped to get my clutch redone before it gets dry enough to ride here in MI. Dang thing kept slipping past 8000rpms. What use is an xj when you can't use the top 2k worth of revs?

    Thanks again,

    Sean

Kudos on the Great Customer Service Len !

Got the intake boots for the Turbo installed after cleaning the carbs and a quick check out of the turbo's lube lines and it fired right up after 3 years of sitting.

    Thanks,
    Richard
