Xj1100 stuck rear brake

    Recently picked up an xj1100 project, pressed on the rear brake and it's not locked but it's dragging, I've been told this isn't uncommon, can I rebuild the rear master cylinder or should I replace it? Or is it just the caliper?

    Old bike so better to rebuild the master cylinder and caliper and fit new brake line.

    If you are doing one you might as well do both while you are dirty with brake fluid anyway. WAY safer later too.

    That rear brake might have a link to the front left? I know my XJ1100 has that setup. So cleaning the lines and getting the rear MC out is fun :). I also has some issues cleaning the front MC as it only runs my right front brake. Take your time and really get them cleaned up well.

    Oh, just remembered that both the lines coming from the Rear MC were completely blocked at the line bend coming from the MC. I had to take a wire and compressed air to remove the old brake fluid or buildup from that area of both the rear brake and the front left brake at the MC banjo bolts.
