    Hi everyone,

What’s the size of the mirror thread on a 550? 1981-1983 model. One of my threads has stripped. Going to try an tap it again.

    Thank you

The right or left mirror? Yamaha's right side mirror is reverse threaded.

Never understood that - you'd think it would be the other way around given the way the 'wind' would affect the rotation. I just tapped a 10 x 1.25 thread into my GPZ550 m/c fitted to my 'seca' and bought some universal mirrors that I believe are both RH thread.

In case you contact something at speed, the mirror will (should) spin away (loosen) instead of break away (broken).
