    hi everyone,

What oil do I use for my XJ550? It’s 1981 model. I’m thinking 10W40? Also seen it takes about 2.5L? Also what’s wet and dry clutch? TIA

A wet Clutch is just that it is submerged in oil ... A dry clutch is just that it is dry not in oil .... The XJ is a wet clutch design I use Valvoline 10w/40 Motorcycle oil . Castrol also makes a motorcycle oil ... many synthetic oils do not work so will on the XJ's the starter clutch seem to slip on a higher mileage engine and the transmission clutch can also slip ...the local dealership even recommends avoiding using this oil in the XJ's I actually trust them as they sold them when they were NEW :)
