Hi everyone, I'm new here. My grandad purchased a 1982 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim over the weekend and It needs a new seat and speedo housing (see pics) Just wondering if anyone knows where I can source these from.

The bike was imported from America by previous owners. Does anyone know if the UK Spec (if there is one) is the same?

Hope to get to know some of you on here over time,
    Many Thanks - Geraint.

The XJ650 "Euro" models are actually what we call XJ650RJ Seca models in the USA...........quite a bit different from the XJ650 Maxim (North America only) models. The engine and drivetrain bits are all the same, and some other minor items interchange, but otherwise they are a quite a bit different from each other.

The gauge cluster (speedo) seems to be non-stock, although the picture is little bit fuzzy. What is the large metal (?) bracket behind the speedo?

Hi, thanks for your reply. The metal brackets behind the clocks are the brackets for the screen. Regards, Geraint.

    Okay, that makes sense now!

We should have a good used "housing", drop me an e-mail or a PM and we'll see what we can find. Do you need the top lense or the rear chrome housing?

Also, again.........looks like that speedo is not the correct one for that cluster!

    Welcome to the site !!

Yeah, the speedo should top out at 85 MPH.
You shouldn't see another Maxim 650 on the road much !
