Have a load of Go pro footage and photos to make one final Vid so will post that when its all edited together. The first two were done in a hurry as a sales aid so are a bit rough. Posted a couple of pics to photobucket anyway:

Looking through the photos I'm really starting to regret selling this bike. I think I'll have to get another.

    Hello all,
Just to say that I have a load of parts available still from my build. Didn't realise until I had to clear out the shed. Bodywork for an XJ including front faring all in good knick. Front light, rear footpegs etc. Free to forum members so PM me if interested. I have some Koni adjustable ride height and damping shocks also, which are period items. WIll post all on ebay again shortly.

Hoping this will find it's way to your email after your departure!

Where did you find those handlebars?

    Thanks :)

    Thats right chaps,

DCC are the boys for all things clip on. Good quality and much cheaper than the competition (i'm speaking here relative to Aus competitors, there may be better in the USA). You'll have to either slide the forks up through the yoke or put them on underneath and have a very agressive riding position with potential for them to foul the tank on full lock.
Good fun playing around with them though.

    Good luck

Wow, outstanding build Hoops! Was thinking about painting my frame red, good to see how it looks!

Side note, is that a Battleax BT45 on the rear? How do you like it?

    It is indeed,
Took me a little to get used to the narrow wheel on the bike as this was by far the oldest thing I'd ever owned. I found it to be surprisingly grippy and confidence inspiring when warmed up. A nice looking tyre also. I thought about putting wider wheels on it but wanted to keep the nimble feel of the thing and it wasn't struggling for grip with the power it had anyway.

Is there a way that my old URL images may be transposed over from the old site? or do i have to re-post them? Ok, sorted by reposting, same URLs but needed transferring.

I like the new format and am very grateful to the administrators for such effort in preserving the data source of XJBIKES

Finally back onto an xj after a few years out. It's an xjr1300 so more of an homage to the old ways than a genuine old bike.
Ride feel is so familiar to the old xj650 though but obviously it's a bit heavier.

Anyway, the point of the post is I still have two old tci units that both function. Hopefully a forum member has need for them as I paid 180 dollars for each of them I can't bring myself to throw them in the bin.

I'm a bit jealous. We can't get the XJR1300 in the states :(

    Ah - she's a beauty.
This looks like it was originally a Seca 650 - right? If so, I cordially invite you to join our Yamaha XJ650R(J) Seca Facebook group.

Thanks for the offer. But the xj 650 is long gone. It may be the same as a seca but I don't believe it was branded as such in Australia. I might be wrong. Perhaps an expert will be along to correct me shortly.

The xjr1300 is basically the fjr1200 which you have in the USA. Just a few chassis changes and the Xjr got the r1 brembo brakes, which are great.

I have an fjr rear wheel on mine for the drag strip and the original for the race track. Same wheel, different tyres and cogs, straight swap though.

Love the XJ though. I may be getting old but its such a great all round bike. I don't think i ll ever step back to modern sports bikes, way beyond my operational envelope.

I've pondered how easily the Xjr 1300 would go into an old 650 or 750 frame. Would be quite pointless other than for the fun of it. The chassis is identical on the 1300 just a tad beefier but the side of it bolts off to remove the engine and the oil cooler mounting points, engine mounts etc all look identical.

Any idea if it would suit a '84 xj750?
