Hello, just wanted to see what people have been doing as this seems a super common issue for the XJ900f front guards cracking around the bolt holes.

I understand 30 year old plastic is going to be brittle but I am at a loss now going through the only 2 front guards I have been able to source, going to try my hand at some plastic welding but I know this will be a short lived exercise, what are people doing? OEM guards? Does anyone know if the later model XJ900s from the 90's fit?

I dont really want to have to get one made up of fiberglass. I uploaded a photo of basically my issue in a nutshell.

    Looking forward to your experiences.

Is there any way to put a rubber washer on both sides of the panel to help dampen any vibration/reason for them cracking/breaking in the first place?

I don't know what material the XJ900 parts are made from but they did use ABS plastic on many models for side covers and fairings. My Venture had the same issue and I repaired them using ABS sheet plastic to re-enforce the joints and fill in the missing pieces. ABS glue from the home center bonded it all together. They are still holding up after 8 years.
