    i just got ready to put my 900r forks back together and realized i have no clue how much oil to put in them. on lots of modern stuff i hear about settling the level front the top of the tube with the fork compressed (w/o the spring inside). i think i see a mark around the inside of the tube, but it seems to me on lots of older bikes the manufacturers spec the level by the amount you should fill the forks with. I've been unable to find any info on it, and don't want to have to track down a 900r service manual just to find how how much oil to put in the forks :wink:

    Mate I've got a 83 XJ750RL as far as I know it is exactly the same as the 900 except for the engine capacity.
    According to the manual the front fork takes:
    SAE 10w30 type SE motoroil
    Oil Capacity each fork 286+/-4cm cubed {10.1+/-0.14Impoz,9.67+/-0.14US oz}
    I hope this is of some help.
