Monoshock on 1982 Yamaha XJ550

    Direct mono shock or with linkage? Direct is far less complicated, linked more (much more) so. Direct you can simply look at any other bike with a direct mono shock
    and copy (apply) ithe design to your bike, meaning dimensions and clearances and so on. Draw it out on paper to scale. On this forum take a good long look at
    Slightly altered 83 XJ750 Maxim
    mono-shock it's as good as it gets for this layout.

    No OTS conversions are available as far as I know. Have to make your own.

    A mono shock virago swing arm will get you started, the rest is all DIY
