I am attempting to make the front turn signal on my xj900 seca act as running lights. I am running into trouble. So I am curious to know if someone has a wiring diagram that I might be able to use.

I have attempted to wire the turn signals into the headlight. I tapped into both the low beam and the high beam power supply. Now the system is giving me running lights, but not flashers. Also it will not activate the low beam only the high beam.

Alternatively, should I wire into the headlight and use only the low beam power supply for the running lights. In this event when I switched on the high beams the running lights would not work correct?

    Regards,

I saw an earlier post on this subject that detailed the procedure. If I recall you need to replace the bulb sockets with ones that have three wire set up so you can run a dual filiment bulb (an 1157 automotive bulb) like a regular car turn signal. Then you would tap into the rear tail light wire not the brake light wire and that would give you your front running lights. I have not attemted this but I think it would work. Just my input.....

I have replaced both of the front bulb sockets with the three wire configuration. I have even purchased and installed the 1157 bulbs in Amber. I am just not sure on the headlight socket which wires I should be tapping into that will allow me to have constant running lights and when activated flashing turn signals. I mean the headlight socket has supply wires for the low beam and when switched for the high beams. The ground is common for both low and high and easily identified. Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

You can also use one of those trailer converters to get your rear turn signals to come on with the brakes, but you will not have running lights. I did it on both of my bikes and it really gets attention with the LEDs I installed. Of course you will need to change to red lenses on the turn signals to be legal.

Run the Wires for the Running Lights into the Bucket and splice the two together.
Once you have the Running Lights "Married", ... Run a wire from the Running Lights Married Leads to a convenient source of +12V~Switched.
(+12V~Switched = Red Wire with White Stripe)

The Running Lights will be controlled by the Ignition Switch.

The Blinking Light Signal Wires are run to the Left and Right Signal Wires.
Use your test light to determine which they are.

RickCoMatic, I want to eliminate my rear turn lights and make my stop light to blink is there a way to do that?

Check-out the Various Lighting arrangements you can do with Modules from:

    Signal Dymmics

I have a Module and a Relay that gives me a light-show at my rear lights when braking.

I have (3) 6-LED Strips Mounted on the Panel above the Brake Light.
I had it wired so that when I grabbed the Brake Lever or touched the Rear Brake Food Pedal ...
    > The LED Strips Strobed On~Off 5 Times then came On Full
    > The Brake Light Flashed 5 Times and came-on Full
    > The Turn Signals Came ON Full for 5 seconds.
